Roswell, Ga - GFI ships box no. 260 to Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Academy in Tarlac. 

 

Thank you to Myleene Santana and family, Lauren & Melissa Luetgers and members of Cross of Life Lutheran church for donating to Galing Foundation books, school supplies, kitchen tools and for funding the shipment to support Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Academy in Tarlac.

Dunwoody, Ga.  - Dr. Carol Woodley, school administrator of Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Academy, a GFI LDERA recipient accepts $500 store gift card made possible through the generosity of Cross of Life Lutheran Church and its Social Concerns Ministry for purchase of baking tools needed by deaf students.  "We are glad to report to you that the deaf students of Cornerstone Baptist Deaf Academy (CBDA) are engaged in the livelihood projects such as cooking and baking.  What started out as a classroom project in "Home Economics" has evolved into Income Generating (IGP).  It is for these livelihood projects that we would like to request Galing Foundation to donate cooking, baking equipment and utensils to help the deaf students."  - Woodley

 

According to Dr. Woodley, the idea of a sustainable livelihood project such as "bake sale" will be used to subsidize the daily needs such as transportation, toiletries and personal needs of older students in which provides them a sense of fulfillment as they become productive citizens of the community.

On behalf of the board, volunteers and recipients of Galing Foundation, Inc. and in cooperation with the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Atlanta, we would like to thank you for taking the time in joining us last Friday, January 30th to honor and recognize  Youth Leaders-Irene Bhuiyan, Julia Dorotea Ticsay Lopez and Lee Wilkes II and Filipino American Teachers in Georgia - Ressurrection Artley, Joel Aquino, Ph.D., Joy Arellano James, Menchu Lim, Virgilio Lim, Gladys P. Piper, Raquel Rimpola, Ph.D., Marissa Rondina, Toni Samuelu, and Maria Vandermey for their outstanding contribution to the community. 

Since 2007, YLA (Youth Leadership Award) is a program in partnership with the Philippine Honorary Consulate and the Filipino community to promote the importance of leadership and voluntarism.  We believe that a concerted effort in recognizing distinguished Filipino American community members for all the good works that they have done and continue to do serve as an inspiration to all of us.
