Galing Foundation, Inc. announces its nomination process to award a student for its 4th Youth Leadership Award



















2010 Youth Leadership Award Nomination

Galing Foundation, Inc. is a public not for profit 501 © 3 tax exempt charitable organization initiated in May of 2005. It is committed to offer informational and educational programs through community partnerships as well as promoting the importance of functional and English literacy in rural areas of the Philippines as the foundation for future development, working towards awareness on global citizenry thereby provides educational resources to Filipino indigent children in public schools, libraries and day care centers.

Galing Foundation, Inc. announces its nomination process to award a student for its 4th Youth Leadership Award:

Purpose
In partnership with the office of the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Atlanta, GFI promotes the importance of volunteerism, active engagement and commitment among the youth, in charitable organizations that benefits the community and beyond for a common good.

The Honorees
2009 – Joanne Kelly Utt of Senoia, GA
2008 - Janice Alcalde of Chamblee, GA
2007 – Omar Ragheb of Atlanta, GA

Selection Guidelines
The Galing Foundation, Inc. Board and its designee will select one student from age 6-17 years old.

The student must be from the Filipino community whom you think have made valuable contributions to the school and community in the state of Georgia.



Procedure
Nominations may come from a resident of Georgia nominating a student of Filipino heritage attending a school in the state of Georgia. The nomination must be in writing and must be mailed (electronically or via postal service) to Galing Foundation, Inc. by no later than November 18, 2010.

I. Selection: A selection committee composed of 3 distinguished members serving in the state of Georgia will make the final selection.

II. Criteria for selection will be based on the following:
A. Academic Excellence: Each nominee shall provide proof of academic achievement as well as active involvement in extra-curricular activities of the school.

B. Community Service: Willingly contributes his/her time and resources to schools and charitable organizations benefiting communities in need.

C. Leadership: Demonstrates self initiative and commitment in promoting educational and charitable activities.

D. Character: Demonstrates genuine concern for others. Sets a positive example for youth to emulate and displays an exemplary disposition towards others.



AwardThe honoree will receive an award of recognition from The office of Philippine Honorary Consulate General & the Board of Galing Foundation, Inc. and a minimum of $400 U.S. savings bond

Announcement of winner will be made by December 1, 2010 through GFI blog
