An Electronic Message from Father Reynie Paraon of Quezon

An Electronic Message from Father Reynie Paraon of Quezon:

dear toni & galing foundation benefactors:

The Mother of Perpetual Help Parish Family would like to express our deepest gratitude to each and everyone of you. We hope that our parish will always be the part and one of the beneficiaries of your generous foundation especially the young ones. Ang pinadala nyo pong balikbayan box na puno ng mga damit, laruan, pagkain at mga books ay pinamahagi namin sa mga batang araw-araw ay nag-aalay ng mga bulaklak during this month of May. I'll send you some pictures of these gift-giving later. And since new school year is fast approaching, nakakahiya man, muli po kaming umaasa na kami ay inyong bibigyan ng mga pwedeng magamit ng mga batang mahihirap sa kanilang pagpasok sa paaralan.

I'll keep in touch with you & again thank you very much for including my parish in your foundation. Rest assure my prayers and Holy Masses for your family and to the members & supporters of your foundation. God Bless & Regards!

Fr. John Reynie O. Paraon

COMMUNITY INVITED TO A PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE CELBRATION:
“BALL O’ FUN”

A Family Sport & Music Event to Benefit Indigent Children in the Philippines
through a Book and School Supply Drive

The Galing Foundation, Inc. announces “Ball O’ Fun,” a Philippine independence celebration to benefit indigent Filipino children in the Mindanao area. The charitable event will be held on Saturday, June 16 from noon until 4 pm at the Alpharetta Community Center, located at 175 Roswell Street, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Admission is free but attendees are asked to donate new and gently used children’s books, English pocket size dictionaries, and school supplies.

Attendees will enjoy Filipino food by I&M and Mabuhay Catering, volleyball and basketball clinics for kids, face painting and a karaoke showcase. Highlights of the event will include live performances by various Filipino American vocal artists including Asian American Idol Christine Joy, Christian singer songwriter Faith Ward and other local Filipino talents.

“Knowing there are children in other parts of the world who are less fortunate makes you realize how lucky we are to have what we have in the states. We should always give back to our community,” said Joy.

Children attending the event will also get a chance to meet Arjho Carino-Turner, a member of the Blaan Tribe, who will provide an interactive segment about the lives of the Blaan and Tboli tribes, the indigenous people of the island of Mindanao. She will contrast the tribes’ cultural and educational challenges compared with the way of life for most children in Atlanta.

“Students go on foot for approximately two to three hours crossing mountains and several rivers just to get to school. Some students go barefoot because they simply could not afford a pair of flip flops,” said Turner.

The Galing Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide books to public libraries and school supplies to indigent children. Toni Daya-Luetgers, a native of the Philippines and an award-winning artist/producer, founded the organization in 2005.
